  • Synopsis:  Met with a vibrant club of thoughtful patriots.  Heard a great suggestion on looking into expanding Maryland's refinery capacity -- something America is short on.  Will do.  Responded to a question on what sets me apart from Dutch with respect to National Intelligence by explaining that I'm a formally trained Army Intel officer with a longstanding "backstage pass" to the Intel Community, while Dutch only sees what agencies want to show him.  My firsthand experience will make it impossible for agency heads to fool or mislead me.  Here's what Jon Moynihan of The Patch  wrote about the event.

  • 7:00 pm.  VFW Post 6694, 6712 Pine Ave, Dundalk
  • Synopsis:  Inspiring night!  I met Mr. Chick Doludos, who tricked his parents into signing his enlistment papers in 1943 and served the Marines in WWII, Korea and Viet Nam.  Also met Mr. Steve Mason, from State HQ, who served three tours as a Green Beret in Viet Nam and came home to teach college and high school.  The VFW needs OIF and OEF veterans to join its ranks -- not only for the camaraderie, but also for the help they provide navigating VA claims and the scholarships they make available to members' children.  Salute.

  • Synopsis:  Decided to join this post and agreed to help them with their Quartermaster duties!!  Their previous one passed away just last week and I am proud to honor his service by offering the Quickbook skills I gained as a small businessman to help keep their Post charging forward.

  • Synopsis:  Harford County Executive David Craig keynoted with a good update on Harford County including the major impact of BRAC, which will ultimately bring about 100 new defense contractor companies to the county and has already brought a Wegman's.  Kohls and JC Penney are coming too.  With a growing employment rate in Harford Country and the nation's third largest increase in average wages, the county posted a $38 million surplus last year!!

  • Synopsis:  Great $8 dinner -- including an ice cold beer and home cooked brownies!!  Met a Marine who fought in the Chosin Reservoir in Korea.  They were cut off for three weeks and it got down to 35 degrees below zero...  Semper Fi !

  • Synopsis:  Oversubscribed crowd!!  Sent me away with marching orders to get a new picture for my palm card "because I don't look that old in person!"

  • Synopsis:  Bi-partisan crowd uniformly agreed its time for Dutch and his ilk to give the next generation a shot at fixing this mess!!

Jan 19:  Greater Towson Council of Community Associations

  • Synopsis:  Big crowd!  Towson's got it goin' on...  Learned about the effort to add elected members to Maryland school boards.  Evidently, we're one of the last states in the country that has its school board members selected by the governor.
