"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the Veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation."  -George Washington

As an Afghanistan War Veteran who also worked as a Veterans Caseworker on Capitol Hill, I am intimately aware of the issues our Veterans face.  Whether it be a World War II veteran's family trying to get their dad the medals he's owed, or a Vietnam Veteran suffering from Agent Orange exposure, or an OIF veteran trying to get a job, I'm on it!  I know how the Department of Veterans Affairs works and what our country's Veterans' Service Organizations can do to help too.  The explicit (and implicit) promises we made to our veterans the day they raised their right hands are sacred and must be honored -- no exceptions.

Three good reasons to institute tax reform that finds more revenue:

  1. Paying for more caseworkers and adjudicators at the Department of Veterans Affairs
  2. Funding recently enacted phase-in of "concurrent receipt"
  3. Protecting federal salaries
