He's a Leader who Serves Wherever he's Needed Most

Larry is not a career politician.  He is running as a small business advocate, a friend of the taxpayer and a concerned citizen.  Born in Baltimore in 1965, Larry Smith is a lifelong Marylander.  A 1987 Animal Science graduate from Cornell University, Larry went on to  train thoroughbred racehorses in Maryland’s historic horse country, while also serving as an officer in Maryland’s Army National Guard. Then, 9-11 reshaped his priorities.  When the U.S. invaded Iraq in 2003, Larry requested orders to serve as an Intelligence Officer at the Pentagon.  He concluded that active service with a deployment to Afghanistan in 2010 and Korea in 2011.  Larry’s exposure to national affairs eventually piqued his interest in policy-making and led him to pursue a master’s degree at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, and to spend time as a staffer on Capitol Hill.  Larry is a proud husband and father who currently lives in Timonium, Maryland.
